Thank you to everyone who has shown their support
of the Memorial Wall of Names.
The response we have seen since the beginning of this initiative has shown that many Canadians want this Memorial. Many have sent us their thoughts of hope and support and we would like to share some of them with you.
Support and endorsement has been given by many individual Canadians, the Royal Canadian Legion and the National Council of Veterans Associations. |

The Maple Leaf Legacy Project. Steve Douglas, Founder www.mapleleaflegacy.org
"In my experience since 1997, as Director of the Maple Leaf Legacy Project, it has become increasingly apparent to me that Canada needs a focal point for the commemoration of all of its war dead, by name, for all of the wars and conflicts in which we have participated. This focal point will serve to draw people from across Canada and around the world to pay their respects to our fallen and to learn more about the events in which Canadians so often played such a pivotal role.
The men and women of Canada, who paid, with their lives, for the cause of freedom and peace in so many regions of the world, deserve to have their names displayed properly and with all due respect, at a national memorial site. They were not nameless; they were not without personality, character individuality and purpose in life. They were as we are. A grateful nation seeing that their names are proudly displayed in perpetuity on a fitting and touching memorial is a nation that looks ahead as well as remembers its past.
It is right and fitting that present a future generations will have a focal point, in our nation's capital, to help tell the story of our past and of the many thousands of our men and women who gave it all for the betterment of so many oppressed and less fortunate people of the world.
I endorse and fully support the efforts to bring this memorial wall to reality."
The Royal Canadian Legion
"This Memorial Wall of names will be a commemorative site where Canadians can pause and reflect upon the accomplishments and selfless sacrifices of the 117,000 men and women whose homecoming was only dreamed of. It will serve to strengthen the collective reminiscence of a grateful nation toward all veterans."
National Council of Veteran Associations in Canada
"The subject of the Memorial wall of names was raised for discussion at our Annual Meeting and received unanimous approval."
Major General Lewis W. MacKenzie
"I'd be pleased to be included in those that support the project."
Major General Richard Rohmer
"Please know that I am totally supportive of the goals and objectives of the Memorial Wall of Names."
Cynthia McFadden, Co-Anchor, Nightline, abc News
"Your idea for a memorial for the Fallen is a very powerful one. I hope you pursue it"
Gail Asper
"This could be a very powerful monument and I sincerely believe that this project is a worthy one." -
